The Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced the recipients of the “2026 National Social Work Professionals Recognition Awards,” and our department’s alumni have achieved outstanding results, with two distinguished graduates earning recognition. Yi-Chen Chou and Yi-Han Cheng, both employed by the Department of Social Affairs of the Yilan County Government, received the prestigious “Senior Dedication Award” and “Outstanding Social Worker Award,” respectively.

Social work plays a vital role in maintaining social stability. Frontline social workers address the needs of vulnerable populations, often requiring tremendous patience, professional expertise, and dedication. Both award-winning alumni serve at the Department of Social Affairs of the Yilan County Government, demonstrating the long-standing educational commitment of Fo Guang University’s Department of Social Work to “deepening local engagement and integrating practical experience.”

**Yi-Chen Chou, a recipient of the “Senior Dedication Award,”** currently serves in the Social Assistance Section of the Department of Social Affairs of the Yilan County Government. Over the years, Chou has remained dedicated to the social work profession, working diligently in the field of social assistance and helping countless economically disadvantaged families overcome difficulties. This award recognizes not only Chou’s years of service but also the unwavering commitment to service and professional dedication demonstrated throughout the years.

**Yi-Han Cheng, the recipient of the “Outstanding Social Worker Award,”** works in the Senior Citizens and Disability Welfare Section of the Department of Social Affairs of the Yilan County Government. In response to the complex needs associated with an aging society and services for people with disabilities, Cheng has approached the work with initiative and innovation, demonstrating exceptional performance in case management and resource coordination. Cheng’s achievements exemplify the professional expertise and proactive spirit of the new generation of social workers.

The Department of Social Work at Fo Guang University stated that its educational mission is to cultivate professional social workers equipped with humanistic care and practical skills. Seeing its graduates gain recognition at a national professional awards ceremony, while choosing to remain in Yilan to serve the local community and give back to their hometown, is the greatest encouragement for the department. The achievements of these two alumni will also serve as excellent role models for current students, inspiring more young people to pursue careers in social work and become a compassionate force for social stability.

The faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Social Work at Fo Guang University once again extend their heartfelt congratulations to alumni Yi-Chen Chou and Yi-Han Cheng.
